Vancouver Whitecaps Defeat Inter Miami in Thrilling CONCACAF Champions League Semifinal
Vancouver, British Columbia – The Vancouver Whitecaps edged out Inter Miami CF with a 2-0 victory in a captivating CONCACAF Champions League semifinal clash at BC Place on April 25th, 2025. The match, officiated by Mario Escobar of Guatemala, was characterized by high intensity and numerous yellow cards.
Despite having less possession (31%), the Whitecaps proved more clinical in attack. Brian White opened the scoring in the 24th minute with an assist from Pedro Vite. However, he was cautioned before halftime. Inter Miami also accumulated several yellow cards in the second half. Ultimately, a goal from Sergiño Berhalter in the 85th minute, assisted by Julian Nelson, secured the win for the Canadian side. Berhalter also received a yellow card late in the game.
Despite dominating possession (69%) and corners (8 to 3), Inter Miami failed to break down the resolute Vancouver Whitecaps defense, and their lack of cutting edge in attack (2 shots on target from 8 attempts) proved costly. Both teams finished the match with two yellow cards each.
