Intense Valencian Derby Ends with Narrow Victory for Valencia
Valencia, Spain – In a match full of tension and excitement, Valencia defeated Levante in the derby held at the Estadio de Mestalla. With 60% ball possession, Valencia dominated much of the match, although they struggled to convert their chances.
The game was marked by physical and contested play, reflected in the numerous fouls committed by both teams (16 by Valencia and 15 by Levante) and the five yellow cards shown by referee Alejandro Muñiz Ruiz (three for Valencia and two for Levante). The first 45 minutes concluded without goals, but with several cautions.
In the second half, Valencia continued to seek a goal with insistence. A goal by D. Lopez was disallowed by VAR in the 63rd minute due to an offside. However, the persistence of the home team finally paid off in the 79th minute, when H. Duro, assisted by J. Gaya, managed to beat the Levante goalkeeper.
Despite Levante’s attempts to equalize, Valencia managed to maintain the lead until the end. The visiting team, with 40% possession, failed to generate clear goal-scoring opportunities, as evidenced by the lack of shots on target. The match ended with a tight victory for Valencia.
