Valencia thrashes Getafe in exciting Mestalla match
Valencia convincingly defeated Getafe 3-0 in a match played at the Mestalla Stadium, corresponding to matchday 35 of La Liga. The match, officiated by Adrian Cordero Vega, was marked by Valencia’s superiority, reflected in their 59% possession and higher number of shots on target (6 to 3).
The goals came early. Pepelu opened the scoring from a penalty in the 8th minute. Diego López extended the lead in the 18th minute with a goal from open play. Hugo Duro sealed the victory with another penalty in the 37th minute.
Getafe, for their part, tried to react but were outmatched by Valencia’s effectiveness. The match was quite eventful, with a total of 37 fouls and 8 yellow cards distributed between both teams (3 for Valencia and 5 for Getafe). Despite Getafe’s attempts, Valencia’s defense remained firm, preventing any chance of a comeback. The victory leaves Valencia in a comfortable position in the table, while Getafe will have to fight to stay away from the relegation zone.
