UTC Draws with Sport Boys in Intense Match in Cajabamba
Cajabamba, Peru – In a hard-fought match at the Estadio Municipal Germán Contreras Jara, UTC and Sport Boys drew 1-1 in a game marked by intensity and cards. Sport Boys took an early lead with a goal by L. Nequecaur in the 6th minute, assisted by C. Lopez. The first half continued with a contested game in midfield, where UTC tried to impose their ball possession. The first half ended dramatically with a red card for O. Mora of Sport Boys just before the break, in addition to yellow cards for E. Gonzales (Sport Boys) and L. Rugel (UTC).
In the second half, UTC took advantage of their numerical superiority and greater possession (65%) to seek the equalizer. The insistence of the home team finally paid off in the 77th minute, when A. Vasquez scored the tying goal assisted by C. Mejia. The rest of the match was characterized by a tactical game, with UTC pressing for the victory and Sport Boys defending tooth and nail. Despite the efforts of both teams, the score did not change, leaving a draw that reflects the parity of the match. Referee Micke Palomino showed a total of five yellow cards (one for Sport Boys and four for UTC) and one red card for Sport Boys. UTC dominated possession and generated more shots, but Sport Boys was effective in the first half.
