Ayacucho FC upsets UTC in Cajabamba
In a match played at the Estadio Municipal Germán Contreras Jara in Cajabamba, Ayacucho FC achieved an important victory over UTC, despite the territorial dominance displayed by the home team. With 73% possession, UTC tried to impose their game, generating 11 shots, although only two of them managed to be directed at the Ayacucho goalkeeper’s goal.
The match, corresponding to matchday 8 of the Apertura of the Peruvian First Division, saw Ayacucho FC much more effective in their attacks. Despite having only 27% possession, the visitors scored one goal and tested the opposing goalkeeper on six occasions.
H. Arakaki’s goal in the 53rd minute, assisted by J. Lucumi, was enough to secure the three points for Ayacucho FC. The match was also marked by intensity, with several yellow cards shown by referee Robin Segura. Ayacucho FC received four cautions (D. Ramirez, J. Lucumi, A. de la Cruz and J. Valencia), while UTC suffered an expulsion for a double yellow to J. Aguirre in the 85th minute. In addition, UTC committed 12 fouls, while Ayacucho FC committed 11. Despite the seven corners in favor of UTC, they failed to convert any goal-scoring plays.
