South Korea Dominates the United States in International Friendly
In a friendly match held at the Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison, New Jersey, South Korea convincingly defeated the United States. The match, refereed by Reon Radix, ended with a clear victory for the Asian team.
The first goal came in the 18th minute, thanks to Son Heung-Min, who capitalized on an assist from Lee Jae-Sung to put his team ahead. South Korea continued to display its superiority, and just before halftime, Lee Dong-Gyeong, assisted again by Son Heung-Min, extended the lead in the 43rd minute.
Although the United States tried to react, maintaining 53% possession and taking 16 shots (5 on target), they failed to convert their opportunities. South Korea, with 47% possession and a more direct game, was more effective in front of the goal.
The match, corresponding to Friendlies 1 of the 2025 season, made clear South Korea’s offensive power and the need for the United States to refine their aim for future commitments. The match ended with a yellow card for A. Zendejas of the United States in the 81st minute.
