Urawa Reds Edges Out Shimizu S-Pulse in Thrilling Saitama Match
Urawa Reds secured a 2-1 victory over Shimizu S-Pulse in a captivating match at Saitama Stadium 2002 on Tuesday. Despite possessing less of the ball (45% compared to Shimizu’s 55%), Urawa proved more clinical in front of goal. R. Watanabe opened the scoring in the 4th minute, assisted by Matheus Savio. Shimizu received a yellow card for A. Ahmedov in the 42nd minute. The second half continued the excitement. Matheus Savio added a second goal for Urawa in the 59th minute, unassisted. However, Shimizu pulled one back in the 79th minute with an own goal by S. Nishikawa. Despite Shimizu’s late pressure, which included a significant number of shots (21 to Urawa’s 8), Urawa held on for the win. The match concluded with a late yellow card for Urawa’s S. Gustafson in the 90th minute. Ultimately, Urawa’s attacking prowess proved decisive against a Shimizu side that dominated possession but lacked the finishing touch.
