Urawa Red Diamonds defeat Sanfrecce Hiroshima in a thrilling match
Saitama, Japan – Urawa Red Diamonds defeated Sanfrecce Hiroshima 3-0 in a thrilling encounter that took place at the Saitama Stadium 2002.
The first goal of the match came in the 45th minute, courtesy of Y. Matsuo, who capitalized on a pass from T. Sekine to open the scoring. In the 56th minute, B. Linssen extended Urawa’s lead, while G. Haraguchi sealed the victory in the 86th minute after an assist from N. Maeda.
Urawa dominated the game in the second half, creating numerous scoring opportunities. Sanfrecce Hiroshima, for their part, tried to react, but couldn’t find a way to the goal.
Despite the defeat, Sanfrecce Hiroshima had more possession of the ball (60% compared to Urawa’s 40%), but Urawa were more effective in attack, making 12 shots, 7 of them on target, compared to Sanfrecce’s 22 shots, only 5 of them on target.
With this victory, Urawa Red Diamonds consolidate their position at the top of the J1 League table, while Sanfrecce Hiroshima will have to look for victory in their next encounter to avoid losing ground in the standings.
