Universitario de Vinto defeated Oriente Petrolero with a resounding 4-1 victory in a thrilling match played at the Estadio Félix Capriles in Cochabamba. The game, corresponding to matchday 17 of the 2024 Clausura in the Bolivian First Division, was officiated by referee J. Mamani.
Universitario de Vinto controlled possession with 56%, although Oriente Petrolero created more goal-scoring opportunities with 10 shots (4 on target) compared to their opponent’s 5 (1 on target). However, effectiveness was on the side of the home team.
The goals started arriving from the 49th minute, when Miguel Núñez opened the scoring for Universitario de Vinto. Thiago Tobar extended the lead in the 56th minute, while Gerson Álvarez pulled one back for Oriente Petrolero in the 68th minute. In the final stretch, Ricardo Llano scored two more goals for Universitario de Vinto, one from a penalty in the 81st minute and another from open play in the 87th minute.
The match was marked by tension, with a total of 13 yellow cards distributed between both teams: Sergio Ramírez (Oriente) and Miguel Núñez, E. Mendoza, and A. W. Torrez Suarez (Universitario) received yellow cards.
