Universidad de Chile Cruises to 4-0 Victory Over Carabobo FC in Libertadores Clash
Universidad de Chile dominated Carabobo FC in a resounding 4-0 victory at the Estadio Nacional Julio Martínez Prádanos in Santiago, Chile. The CONMEBOL Libertadores Group Stage match, officiated by Ecuadorian referee Bryan Loayza, showcased Universidad de Chile’s control, reflected in their 74% possession and numerous scoring opportunities.
Matias Sepulveda opened the scoring in the 30th minute. Carabobo FC struggled to counter Universidad de Chile’s dominance. Before halftime, both teams received yellow cards: Robert Hernandez and Jhonny Congo for Carabobo.
The second half saw Universidad de Chile solidify their victory. Cristobal Aran-guiz converted a penalty in the 64th minute for a 2-0 lead. Matias Zaldivia added another goal in the 81st minute, and Ivan Poblete Zuniga sealed the 4-0 win in stoppage time. Universidad de Chile also saw a yellow card issued to Matias Zaldivia. Carabobo FC received three yellow cards in total, to Robert Hernandez, Jhonny Congo and Luis Aponte. Carabobo managed only 5 shots, none on target, while Universidad de Chile registered 22 shots with 9 on target.
The win places Universidad de Chile in a strong position in the group stage.
