Vélez Sarsfield suffered an unexpected defeat against Unión de Santa Fe in a match played at the Estadio 15 de Abril in Santa Fe. Despite dominating possession (67%) and creating more scoring chances (13 shots to Unión’s 6), Vélez fell to an own goal by Emanuel Gómez in the 54th minute. While Vélez had more shots on target (6 vs 5), Union proved more clinical. The match, corresponding to matchday 26 of the second phase of the 2024 Argentine Professional League, ended 0-1. Yellow cards were shown to two players from each side: two for Unión (Verde, Fascendini and Pitton) and two for Vélez (Quinteros and Mammana). Dario Herrera officiated the game.
