Thrilling Draw in Leiria Marked by Discipline
Leiria, Portugal – In a hard-fought match at the Estádio Dr. Magalhães Pessoa, União de Leiria and Chaves drew in a game filled with tension and cards. The match, corresponding to the tenth round of the Portuguese Segunda Liga, was refereed by Gustavo Correia.
Chaves took the lead in the 29th minute with a goal by P. Pinho, assisted by T. Simoes. However, the joy was short-lived, as at the beginning of the second half, J. Munoz equalized for União de Leiria in the 53rd minute.
The match became particularly tense from the 59th minute onwards, with a series of yellow cards shown to players from both teams: Paulo Victor and V. G. Rofino. The situation worsened for Chaves when Paulo Victor received a second yellow card in the 65th minute, resulting in his expulsion.
Despite playing with one man less, Chaves managed to hold on to the lead until the final stages of the match. It was in the 89th minute when J. van der Gaag scored the equalizing goal for União de Leiria, sealing the final result.
The match was marked by intensity, reflected in the numerous cautions: one yellow card for União de Leiria and four yellows plus one red for Chaves.
