Intense Draw in Budapest between Újpest and Paks
Budapest, Hungary – A vibrant and emotional match took place at the Szusza Ferenc Stadion, where Újpest and Paks drew in a match corresponding to the third round of the NB I. The encounter, played under an electrifying atmosphere, kept the fans on the edge of their seats until the last second.
The first half witnessed an intense battle in midfield. Paks opened the scoring in the 38th minute thanks to K. Horvath, who took advantage of an excellent assist from A. Szendrei to send the ball into the back of the net. However, the joy did not last long, as Újpest reacted quickly and A. Matko equalized in the 43rd minute, with a brilliant assist from G. Beridze.
The second half continued with the same frantic pace. B. Lenzser put Paks ahead again in the 75th minute, with an assist from G. Gyurkits, but the score didn’t last for long, because the goal was disallowed by VAR in the 90th minute, maintaining the tie until the end.
Despite the tie on the scoreboard, Újpest dominated ball possession with 57%, while Paks settled for 43%. Both teams generated 15 shots each, although Újpest showed greater precision with 6 shots on target, compared to Paks’s 7. The intensity of the match was reflected in the number of fouls committed by both teams, 13 each, and in the yellow cards shown: two for Újpest and four for Paks.
The final result leaves a bittersweet taste for both teams, who will be looking to improve in their next matches.
