Universidad Católica defeats Deportes Limache in a tense match
Viña del Mar, April 19, 2025 – Universidad Católica secured a victory against Deportes Limache in a match played at the Estadio Sausalito, corresponding to the eighth round of the Chilean Primera División. The match, refereed by Rodrigo Carvajal Molina, was marked by tension, with numerous yellow cards and a red card for Deportes Limache.
The score opened early with an own goal by D. González for Deportes Limache in the 21st minute. However, Universidad Católica dominated possession (69%) and created more scoring opportunities (14 shots, 5 on target). A missed penalty by F. Zampedri in the 45th minute overshadowed the first half. In the second half, after a goal disallowed for handball by C. Montes, Zampedri scored a penalty in the 88th minute, and Jader sealed the victory with a goal in the 90th minute, resulting in a final score of 3-1. The match was full of disciplinary incidents, with 4 yellow cards for UC and 3 for Deportes Limache, as well as an expulsion for Y.W. Andia Leon. Deportes Limache, despite their efforts, could not counter Católica’s dominance, which demonstrated greater offensive effectiveness.
