Chaves defeats Torreense in a tense match
Chaves beat Torreense 3-1 in a match played at the Campo Manuel Marques in Torres Vedras, corresponding to matchday 23 of the Portuguese Segunda Liga. The match was marked by a large number of yellow cards, nine for Chaves and four for Torreense, in addition to a late red card for the winning team.
Chaves started very strongly, with a goal from Platiny in the 3rd minute (although it was a missed penalty) and another own goal by J. Vazquez in the 18th minute. A penalty converted by Carraca in the 38th minute seemed to seal the match, but a penalty for Torreense converted by M. Pozo in the 83rd minute added some late drama.
Despite the victory, Chaves showed inconsistent play, accumulating numerous cards reflecting the tension and aggression of the match. The late red card adds more fuel to the fire in this encounter where discipline was a key factor in the final result.
