Sporting CP beats Sturm Graz in Champions League
Sporting CP defeated Sturm Graz 2-0 in the third matchday of the UEFA Champions League group stage. The match was played at the 28 Black Arena stadium in Klagenfurt am Wörthersee, Austria, and was refereed by Giorgi Kruashvili from Georgia.
The goals of the match came in the first half. Nuno Santos opened the scoring in the 23rd minute, after an assist from Gonçalo Catamo. Victor Gyokeres extended the lead in the 53rd minute, assisted by Zinho Vanheusden Debast.
Sporting CP dominated possession (61%), and created more scoring chances (15 shots, 5 on target) than Sturm Graz (9 shots, 5 on target). Sturm Graz was affected by yellow cards received by Michael Yacouye in the 39th minute and by Eray Yardimci in the 90th minute.
The result leaves Sporting CP with 7 points in the Group C standings, while Sturm Graz remains with 3 points.
