Viking Turns the Game Around in Drammen After a Tricky Start
Drammen, Norway – In a hard-fought match held at the Marienlyst Stadion, Viking managed to overcome Stromsgodset in a game full of twists and turns. Despite an early disallowed goal for Viking in the 10th minute due to a foul, Stromsgodset took the lead in the 13th minute thanks to a goal by M. Mehnert, assisted by M. Farji. Viking didn’t give up and P. Christiansen equalized in the 38th minute, assisted by K. Askildsen. Just before halftime, an own goal by H. Stengel put Viking ahead.
Stromsgodset dominated possession with 44%, while Viking retained 56%. The home team tried to get back into the game with 14 shots, 6 of them on target, but failed to capitalize on their territorial dominance. Viking, more effective, generated 17 shots, 10 of which forced the local goalkeeper to intervene. The match was intense, with several yellow cards shown, one for Viking and two for Stromsgodset. In the end, Viking took the victory in an exciting and contested match.
