Cardiff City and Stoke City played an exciting FA Cup fourth-round match at the bet365 Stadium in Stoke-on-Trent on February 8th, 2025. The match, refereed by Thomas Kirk, ended with a final score of 3-4 in favor of Stoke City.
Goals came early and often. Colwill put Cardiff City ahead in the 8th minute, assisted by El Ghazi. Salech doubled the visitors’ lead in the 19th minute, with an assist from Bagan. However, Koumas pulled one back for Stoke City before halftime (42nd minute), assisted by Burger.
The second half was a goal fest. Koumas equalized early in the second half (46th minute), assisted by Wilson-Esbrand. Baker then put Stoke City ahead with a penalty in the 57th minute. Colwill scored his second goal for Cardiff in the 68th minute, keeping the game exciting until the very end. However, the winning goal for Stoke City came in added time to make the final score 3-4.
The game was evenly matched in possession (50% each), although Cardiff created more scoring chances with 23 shots (10 on target), compared to Stoke City’s 13 (5 on target). Both teams received several yellow cards: three for Cardiff and one for Stoke City.
