Sporting Gijón Triumphs Over Mirandés in Thrilling Match at El Molinón
Sporting Gijón secured a victory against Mirandés in a hard-fought match at the Estadio Municipal El Molinón, corresponding to matchday 36 of the 2024 Segunda División season. The game, played on April 18th, 2025 in Gijón, ended with a score of 3-1.
Sporting took the lead early on thanks to an own goal by Postigo in the 33rd minute. Gelabert Pina extended the advantage in the 48th minute with a well-taken goal. In the closing stages of the game, Gelabert Pina scored again in the 85th minute, assisted by Otero, virtually sealing the victory. Despite Sporting’s dominance, Panichelli pulled one back for Mirandés in the 90th minute.
Although Mirandés enjoyed more possession (53% vs 47%), Sporting were more clinical in front of goal (7 shots on target compared to Mirandés’ 5). Mirandés received one yellow card, while Sporting finished the game without any cautions.
