Sporting CP Delivers Goal Feast in Lisbon Against AVS
Lisbon, Portugal – In a night dominated by Sporting CP, the Estádio José Alvalade witnessed a resounding victory for the home team over AVS in matchday 14 of the Primeira Liga. Sporting CP demonstrated their superiority from the start, controlling 68% of the ball possession and generating a total of 25 shots, 15 of which were on target.
The score was opened in the 32nd minute with a goal by L. Suarez, putting Sporting ahead. Just three minutes later, M. Araujo extended the lead thanks to an assist from G. Vagiannidis. Sporting’s offensive onslaught continued in the 37th minute with a goal by G. Catamo, assisted by G. Kochorashvili, leaving AVS completely disoriented.
After the break, Sporting did not let up. In the 47th minute, M. Araujo scored again, again with an assist from G. Vagiannidis, further consolidating the lead. L. Suarez scored his second personal goal in the 53rd minute, this time with a pass from Matheus Reis. In the final moments of the match, in the 90th minute, G. Catamo sealed the rout with his second goal, assisted by Trincao.
AVS, for their part, struggled to find their game, but could only generate 7 shots, of which only 3 were on target. The away team received three yellow cards (G. Assuncao, Ponck), while R. Mangas of Sporting CP was also cautioned. Sporting CP also dominated in corner kicks, with 8 in their favor, compared to AVS’s only one. The match, refereed by Vasilica Iancu, ended with a clear demonstration of Sporting CP’s superiority.
