Tottenham thrashes Southampton in a dominant display at St. Mary’s Stadium
Tottenham Hotspur secured a resounding 6-0 victory over Southampton at St. Mary’s Stadium in Southampton, Hampshire on December 15th, 2024, in a Premier League matchday 16 clash. The game, officiated by Darren England, was a display of offensive dominance from the visiting team.
James Maddison opened the scoring in the 1st minute, assisted by Spence. Son Heung-Min (12th minute) and Dejan Kulusevski (14th minute) extended the lead before Pape Matar Sarr sealed the first half with a goal in the 25th minute, assisted by Son. Maddison added another goal just before halftime (45th minute), again assisted by Son Heung-Min.
Tottenham controlled possession (59%) and created numerous scoring opportunities (18 shots, 9 on target). Southampton, on the other hand, offered little resistance, with 41% possession and only 9 shots, 3 on target. The match was marked by the Spurs’ superiority and clinical finishing. Yellow cards were shown to Bergvall and Maddison for Tottenham and Fernandes for Southampton.
