Slavia Praha Rout Plzeň in Thrilling Fortuna Arena Match
Prague, Czech Republic – Slavia Praha secured a convincing 6-2 victory over rivals Plzeň in a thrilling encounter at the Fortuna Arena. The match, part of the second round of the Czech Liga Championship round, was a back-and-forth affair from the opening whistle.
I. Schranz opened the scoring for Slavia in the 9th minute. Plzeň responded quickly with a penalty converted by P. Sulc in the 15th minute. M. Vydra extended Plzeň’s lead in the 22nd minute, but Slavia’s dominance shone through in the second half. A. Memic put Plzeň ahead 2-3 in the 55th minute, but C. Zafeiris scored for Slavia in the 57th minute. Slavia completed their comeback with goals from D. Zima (69′), T. Holes (73′) and a second goal from Zafeiris (57′).
Slavia controlled possession (56%) and created numerous scoring chances (25 shots, 14 on target). Plzeň, despite the loss, also had moments of danger, managing 11 shots. Referee Jan Vsetecka, from the Czech Republic, issued two yellow cards to Slavia and one to Plzeň.
