Thrilling Match in Olomouc: Sigma Overcomes Celje in a Hard-Fought Game
Olomouc, November 27, 2025 – The Andruv stadion witnessed a vibrant clash between Sigma Olomouc and Celje, corresponding to the group stage of the UEFA Europa Conference League. The home team, despite having only 31% ball possession, demonstrated great effectiveness in front of goal, converting several chances and overcoming Celje, who dominated the game with 69% possession.
Sigma Olomouc took an early lead in the 8th minute, thanks to a goal by A. Ghali, assisted by M. Hadas. However, Celje did not back down and managed to equalize in the 29th minute with a goal by I. Vidovic, after an assist by D. Sturm. Just before halftime, A. Ghali reappeared to score his second goal of the match in the 42nd minute, this time with an assist from J. Sip, giving the Czech team the lead again.
The second half was intense, with Celje insistently seeking the equalizer and Sigma Olomouc defending their lead tooth and nail. The match was marked by numerous fouls, especially by the home team, which accumulated 27 fouls and two yellow cards (M. Beran in the 79th and R. Breite in the 84th). Celje, for their part, committed 7 fouls and also received two yellow cards (V. Lisakovich in the 13th and D. Hrka in the 18th). Despite Celje’s dominance in possession (69% against 31%), Sigma Olomouc was more effective in attack, making 20 shots (7 on target), while Celje made 11 (4 on target). The match, refereed by Genc Nuza from Kosovo, ended with a victory for Sigma Olomouc, adding three valuable points in the competition.
