Thrilling Shanghai Derby: SHANGHAI SIPG Edges Out Shanghai Shenhua in Card-Heavy Match
Shanghai, China – In an exciting match held at the Shanghai Stadium, SHANGHAI SIPG overcame Shanghai Shenhua in a Super League game marked by intensity and a high number of yellow cards. Referee Muhammad Taqi, from Singapore, had a busy night, booking a total of nine players.
SHANGHAI SIPG opened the scoring in the 27th minute with a goal from Gabrielzinho, assisted by Liu Ruofan. The lead was extended at the start of the second half, in the 46th minute, thanks to Leonardo, who capitalized on an assist from Li Shuai. Shanghai Shenhua responded in the 55th minute with a goal from Chan Shinichi, reducing the deficit.
Despite dominating possession with 54%, Shanghai Shenhua failed to capitalize on their opportunities. They took a total of 22 shots, of which only 7 were on target. SHANGHAI SIPG, with 46% possession, was more effective in attack.
The match was marked by high intensity and physical play, which resulted in numerous fouls (17 by Shanghai Shenhua and 10 by SHANGHAI SIPG) and a flurry of yellow cards. Yusup Umidjan was the first to be booked in the 9th minute for SHANGHAI SIPG, followed by I. Amadou for Shanghai Shenhua in the 41st minute. In the second half, Gao Tianyi and Jiang Shenglong received yellow cards for Shanghai Shenhua, while J. Teixeira, Fu Huan, Li Shenglong, Yan Junling and Browning Tyias completed the list of those cautioned.
