Shanghai Shenhua edged out Kawasaki Frontale with a narrow 1-0 victory at the Shanghai Stadium in a fiercely contested AFC Champions League 2024 Round of 16 match. The game, officiated by Salman Ahmad Falahi from Qatar, saw Kawasaki Frontale dominate possession (54%), but they lacked cutting edge in the final third. Shanghai Shenhua, with 46% possession, proved more clinical, although only two of their 13 shots were on target. The decisive goal arrived in the 76th minute, an own goal by K. Takai.
