Shanghai Shenhua Defeats FC Seoul in Hard-Fought Match
Shanghai, China – In a match corresponding to the group stage of the AFC Champions League, Shanghai Shenhua defeated FC Seoul with a score of 2 to 0. The match, played at the Shanghai Stadium, was marked by FC Seoul’s dominance in possession (67%), but Shanghai Shenhua’s effectiveness was decisive.
The first half passed without goals, although with two yellow cards for FC Seoul, shown to Kim Jin-Su and Ryu Jae-Moon. In the second half, Shanghai Shenhua opened the scoring in the 57th minute with a goal by L. Asue, assisted by J. Teixeira. FC Seoul sought the equalizer but failed to convert their opportunities, despite making 20 shots, 5 of them on target.
In the final minutes, Shanghai Shenhua sealed the match with a goal by Andre Luis in the 89th minute, assisted by W. Manafa. Despite having greater possession and number of shots, FC Seoul could not overcome the Shanghai Shenhua defense. The match concluded with a victory for the home team, who knew how to capitalize on their opportunities in front of the goal.
