Sepahan FC overcame Al Wihdat in a match dominated by the Iranians at the Grand Hamad Stadium in Doha. The encounter, corresponding to the fifth matchday of the 2024 AFC Cup group stage, ended with a 2-1 scoreline in favor of Sepahan FC. Sepahan FC’s dominance was reflected in ball possession (81% vs 19%), as well as in goal-scoring opportunities (15 shots to 2). Al Wihdat opened the scoring with a penalty converted by F. Shelbaieh in the 44th minute. However, Sepahan FC responded with goals from S. N’Zonzi in the 64th minute to turn the game around. The match was marked by tension, with four yellow cards shown to both teams (two for each). Despite Sepahan FC’s dominance, Al Wihdat showed their fighting spirit and put pressure on the Iranian team.
