AVS Stuns Braga on Their Home Turf
Braga, Portugal – In a match held at the Estádio Municipal de Braga, AVS secured a surprising victory over SC Braga, despite the home side’s overwhelming dominance in ball possession (76% against 24%). The encounter, corresponding to the third matchday of the Primeira Liga, Season 2025, left a bitter taste for Braga fans.
The scoreboard opened in the 23rd minute with a penalty goal by R. Zalazar for Braga, giving the impression that the home team would take control of the match. However, AVS responded emphatically. R. Barbosa equalized the score in the 28th minute with a goal from open play, assisted by T. Akinsola. Shortly after, in the 34th minute, D. Duarte put AVS ahead with a goal assisted by Barbosa himself.
Braga, despite their insistence and superiority in shots (21 against 4), failed to convert their opportunities. AVS, on the other hand, proved solid in defense and made the most of their chances.
