LDU Quito Stuns Sao Paulo at MorumBIS with Narrow Victory
São Paulo, São Paulo – In a match held at the MorumBIS stadium, LDU Quito secured a valuable victory against Sao Paulo in the first leg of the CONMEBOL Libertadores quarter-finals. Despite Sao Paulo’s overwhelming ball possession, with 75%, and a barrage of shots on goal (26 in total, 11 on target), the Brazilian team failed to translate their dominance into goals.
J. Medina’s goal in the 41st minute, unassisted, gave the Ecuadorian team the lead, and they fiercely defended against the constant onslaught. LDU Quito, with only 25% possession and 4 shots (only 1 on target), was effective in their single clear opportunity.
