Romania Dominates Cyprus in World Cup Qualifiers
Bucharest, Romania – The Romanian national team confidently defeated Cyprus at the Arena Naţională in a match corresponding to the group stage of the European Qualifiers for the World Cup. The match, refereed by Donatas Rumsas (Lithuania), ended with a victory for the home team.
The first half saw Cyprus receive two yellow cards, to G. Kastanos in the 25th minute and G. Satsias in the 65th. Romania also received a yellow card, to F. Tanase in the 26th minute. The balance tipped towards the Romanian side with a goal from F. Tanase in the 43rd minute, assisted by D. Man. Just two minutes later, D. Man extended Romania’s lead, this time assisted by D. Dragus.
The second half passed without major incidents on the scoreboard. Romania dominated possession of the ball with 60% compared to Cyprus’ 40%. In terms of shots, Romania made 18, of which 5 were on target, while Cyprus only attempted 5 shots, with 1 on target. Romania also surpassed Cyprus in corners, 10 to 3, and committed slightly more fouls, 11 against Cyprus’ 9.
The match proceeded normally, without red cards for either team. With this victory, Romania consolidates its position in the fight for World Cup qualification.
