River Plate defeated Independiente 2-0 in a match played at the Estadio Más Monumental in Buenos Aires, corresponding to the fourth matchday of the first phase of the 2025 Argentine Professional League. The match, refereed by Leandro Rey Hilfer, was characterized by a slightly superior territorial dominance by River Plate, which controlled 54% of the possession. Although both teams created goal-scoring opportunities – River Plate with 14 shots (5 on target) and Independiente with 10 (3 on target) – offensive effectiveness was on the side of the Millionarios. Facundo Colidio emerged as the star, scoring a brace, the first at 51′ with an assist from Gonzalo Montiel and the second at 90′, assisted by Marcelo Casco.
