Real Betis Thrashes Real Sociedad in a Red-Card-Ridden Match
Sevilla, February 16, 2025. – Real Betis secured a resounding 4-0 victory over Real Sociedad at the Estadio Benito Villamarín in a La Liga matchday 24 clash of the 2024-2025 season. The match was dominated by Betis’ superior possession (69%) and their 24 shots on goal (8 on target), as well as Real Sociedad’s two red cards.
Real Sociedad started the game with disciplinary issues. Aramburu received a yellow card at the 6th minute, followed by a red card for Zubeldia at the 20th minute. Muñoz also received a yellow card in the 31st minute. Betis, on the other hand, remained free of red cards and yellow cards. Despite Lo Celso missing a penalty in the 33rd minute, Betis broke the deadlock with a goal from Antony in the 51st minute. Roca sealed the victory with a brace, scoring in the 64th and 69th minutes, the latter assisted by Antony. Real Sociedad’s poor performance was further underscored by only 3 shots on goal and two further red cards, Becker receiving his marching orders in the 75th minute. The match ended in a convincing 4-0 win for Betis.
