RB Leipzig Thrashes Eintracht Frankfurt in German Cup
RB Leipzig secured a resounding 3-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt in the DFB Pokal Round of 16, played at the Red Bull Arena in Leipzig on December 4th, 2024. Despite having less possession (36% vs 64%), Leipzig proved far more clinical in front of goal.
The match started with an offside goal disallowed for Leipzig in the 18th minute, involving Lois Openda. However, Benjamin Sesko opened the scoring for the home side in the 31st minute, assisted by Amadou Nusa. Openda starred in the second half, netting two more goals (49th and 58th minutes), both assisted by Nusa, who was the key figure in Leipzig’s attack.
Eintracht Frankfurt, despite dominating possession, barely threatened the opposition goal. Leipzig’s Seiwald received a yellow card in the 45th minute, while Frankfurt’s Dahoud picked one up in the 87th. Leipzig managed 15 shots, 6 on target, while Frankfurt only had 1 shot on target.
