Petrolul Ploiești snatched a victory against Rapid in a thrilling match played at the Superbet Arena-Giulești in Bucharest. The game, corresponding to matchday 18 of the Romanian Liga I, ended with a close 2-1 score in favor of Petrolul Ploiești. Although Rapid dominated possession (59%), it was Petrolul who capitalized on more scoring opportunities. An own goal by L. Dumitriu in the 54th minute opened the scoring for Petrolul. Rapid tried to react, but A. Tudorie scored for Petrolul in the 62nd minute, sealing the victory for his team. The match was characterized by tension, reflected in the numerous fouls committed by Petrolul (12) and the three yellow cards received by the team. Rapid, on the other hand, committed only 4 fouls and received no cautions. Despite Rapid’s 10 shots (5 on target), Petrolul’s efficiency, with 13 shots (4 on target), proved decisive for the win.
