Rapid Secures Victory in Intense Bucharest Match
Bucharest, Romania – Rapid triumphed over FC Botoșani in a hard-fought match at the Superbet Arena-Giulești, corresponding to Matchday 4 of Liga I. With 56% possession for Rapid, the home team capitalized on their dominance with two goals from Adrian Baroan (minutes 61 and 69), the first assisted by Cristian Manea and the second by R. Pop.
FC Botoșani, although with less possession (44%), attempted to react by generating more shots (14 against Rapid’s 11), but with less effectiveness in front of the opponent’s goal. Only two of their shots were on target, compared to Rapid’s six. Botoșani’s consolation goal came in the 84th minute, scored by H. Ongenda, without an assist.
The match was overseen by referee Ionut Coza and was characterized by a contested game, reflected in the 13 fouls committed by FC Botoșani and the 10 by Rapid. The referee showed two yellow cards to Rapid and one to FC Botoșani. Despite FC Botoșani’s attempts, Rapid’s effectiveness in the opponent’s area was decisive in sealing the victory. The match, valid for the 2025 season of Liga I, left Rapid as the clear winner on their home ground.
