Racing Club falters against Tigre in a game of contrasts
Avellaneda, Provincia de Buenos Aires – In a match held at the Estadio Presidente Juan Domingo Perón, Racing Club and Tigre delivered an exciting and uneven game, corresponding to the fifth matchday of the second phase of the Liga Profesional Argentina. The match, refereed by Dario Herrera, concluded with a late comeback by Tigre.
Racing Club took the lead in the 43rd minute with a goal by A. Balboa, assisted by B. Zuculini, dominating the first half despite having a lower possession percentage (45%). However, the sending off of F. Pardo in the 54th minute, after receiving his second yellow card, drastically changed the scenario.
Tigre, which maintained 55% possession throughout the match, capitalized on their numerical advantage to put pressure on Racing’s defense. Despite their efforts, the team only manage to score from minute 88, when B. Martinez converted a penalty. Tigre’s persistence paid off in added time, when I. Russo scored a goal that sealed the final result. Tigre showed greater offensive aggression with 14 total shots, four of them on target, compared to Racing’s nine shots, of which only one was on target.
The match was characterized by high intensity, reflected in the numerous fouls (14 by Racing and 7 by Tigre) and cards shown by the referee. Racing accumulated three yellow cards and one red, while Tigre received two yellow cards. Despite the initial effort, Racing Club was unable to maintain the lead against a Tigre side that knew how to seize their moment.
