Al Shahaniya staged a thrilling comeback against Qatar SC in a 3-1 victory in the tenth round of the Stars League, played at the Suheim Bin Hamad Stadium in Doha on November 23rd, 2024.
Qatar SC took the lead in the 70th minute through a goal by S. Soria, assisted by E. Barimil. However, Al Shahaniya responded forcefully. P. van Amersfoort scored the first for his team in the 22nd minute, assisted by A. Koroma. In the dying minutes, van Amersfoort struck again in the 90th minute, and an additional unmarked goal in the same minute sealed the comeback.
The match was marked by tension, with a total of six yellow cards shown to players from both teams. Qatar SC slightly dominated possession (53%), had more shots (15 vs 10), and earned more corners (7 vs 4). However, Al Shahaniya’s effectiveness in attack was decisive in securing the win.
