Politehnica Iasi defeats FC Botosani in a thrilling match
Iaşi, April 20, 2025 – Stadionul Emil Alexandrescu in Iaşi hosted a resounding 3-0 victory for Politehnica Iasi over FC Botosani in a match corresponding to the fifth round of the Romanian Liga I Relegation Round. Despite FC Botosani’s overwhelming possession (69%), Politehnica Iasi proved more clinical in front of goal.
The goals came early for the home side. At the 13th minute, M. Bordeianu scored from a penalty, opening the scoring. Twenty minutes later, X. Skuka extended the lead with an open-play goal. In the second half, S. Camara sealed the victory with a goal at the 74th minute, assisted by Tailson.
While FC Botosani created numerous chances (26 shots, 9 on target), their lack of precision and Politehnica Iasi’s solid defense prevented them from scoring. The match was interrupted by several fouls and two yellow cards for FC Botosani (R. Filip and H. Ongenda). Politehnica Iasi, on the other hand, maintained exemplary discipline without receiving any cautions. The victory leaves Politehnica Iasi in a good position in the fight for survival.
