Poland defeats Malta in a controversial match in Warsaw
Poland secured a clear 2-0 victory against Malta in a World Cup 2026 qualifying match played at the Stadion Narodowy in Warsaw on March 24, 2025. The match, refereed by Morten Krogh from Denmark, was dominated by Poland’s superior possession (57%) and goal-scoring opportunities (27 shots, 12 on target).
Kacper Świderski was the star of the match, scoring a brace (minutes 27 and 51), assisted by Krystian Piątek in the first goal and Jakub Moder in the second.
Malta, despite their inferiority, put up a fight, but their lack of effectiveness (8 shots, 3 on target) and the red card shown to Yannick Chouaref in the 90th minute, after a second yellow, sealed their defeat.
