Thrilling Draw in Szczecin Between Pogon and Piast in a Back-and-Forth Match
Szczecin, Poland – A vibrant match took place at the Stadion Miejski im. Floriana Krygiera, where Pogon Szczecin and Piast Gliwice drew in an emotionally charged and back-and-forth game. The match, corresponding to matchday 11 of the Ekstraklasa, left a bittersweet taste for both teams.
Pogon Szczecin dominated possession with 47% compared to Piast Gliwice’s 53%, although they generated a higher volume of attack with 27 shots, 10 of which were on target. The first half was characterized by a dynamic game, with a goal by M. Ndiaye in the 40th minute, after an assist from S. Greenwood, which put Pogon ahead. However, Piast Gliwice reacted quickly and G. Barkovskiy equalized in the 43rd minute with an assist from Juande. Twumasi from Piast Gliwice received a yellow card in the 29th minute. Ali from Pogon also saw a yellow card in the 74th minute.
The second half continued with the same intensity. Just when it seemed the match would end in a draw, K. Grosicki of Pogon Szczecin converted a penalty in the 89th minute, putting his team ahead. The match ended with a yellow card for K. Kostorz of Pogon Szczecin in stoppage time.
Despite Piast Gliwice’s dominance in possession and Pogon Szczecin’s greater number of shots, the final score reflected the parity in the game, with a draw that leaves both teams with the need to continue adding points in the league. Referee Damian Sylwestrzak was in charge of directing the match.
