Petrolul Ploiești edged past Sepsi OSK Sfantu Gheorghe with a narrow 1-0 victory at the Stadionul Ilie Oană in Ploiești. The match, part of the Romanian Liga I’s 30th round, saw Petrolul dominate possession with 56%. Despite their control, the winning goal arrived late, courtesy of P. Papp in the 72nd minute, assisted by M. Radulescu. Sepsi managed fewer shots on target (3 to Petrolul’s 5) and ultimately lacked the cutting edge to break down their opponents. The game was a tense affair, with 23 fouls and four yellow cards shown, two to each side (Coman and Mino for Sepsi, and Papp for Petrolul). Sepsi pushed for an equalizer in the second half but Petrolul held firm to secure a vital three points in their league campaign.
