Late Equalizer Seals Draw for Peterborough Against Bradford at Weston Homes Stadium
Peterborough and Bradford played to a 1-1 draw in a hard-fought match at the Weston Homes Stadium today. The League One encounter, valid for the fifth matchday, was a game of contrasting styles, with Peterborough dominating possession (60%) but struggling to convert it into a clear advantage on the scoreboard until the very last minute.
Bradford, on the other hand, looked solid defensively and dangerous on the counter-attack. They took the lead in the 55th minute through a goal by W. Swan, assisted by G. Lapslie. Despite having less possession (40%), Bradford created more goal-scoring opportunities, with a total of 14 shots, although their finishing in front of goal wasn’t the sharpest. Peterborough, meanwhile, tried to create danger but only managed 4 shots on target.
The match was punctuated by numerous fouls, with Bradford committing a total of 18 and Peterborough 8. Referee James Durkin showed a yellow card to A. Collins of Peterborough in the 13th minute and to A. Baldwin of Bradford in the 34th minute.
Just when it seemed that Bradford would secure the victory, Peterborough found a late equalizer in the 90th minute thanks to a goal by C. Hayes, assisted by D. Frith, sparking jubilation at the Weston Homes Stadium. The final draw reflects a competitive match where both teams fought until the last second.
