Palmeiras Overcomes Botafogo SP in Thrilling Match
São Paulo, Brazil – Allianz Parque hosted a thrilling encounter between Palmeiras and Botafogo SP in the 11th round of the 2025 Paulista A1 Championship regular season. Despite Palmeiras dominating possession (70%), the match was characterized by intensity and chances for both sides. Botafogo SP struck first, with Alexandre Jesus scoring in the 25th minute, assisted by Jonathan Cafu. However, Palmeiras responded quickly, equalizing in the 29th minute through Estevao, assisted by Raphael Veiga. The first half ended with three yellow cards, two for Botafogo and one for Palmeiras.
The second half maintained the tension. Palmeiras, with more possession and shots on goal (15 to Botafogo’s 5), turned the game around with goals from F. Torres in the 76th minute and Luighi in the 85th minute (the latter also assisted by Raphael Veiga). The match finished 3-1 in favor of Palmeiras, despite picking up a yellow card late in the game. Referee João Gobi officiated the match played at Allianz Parque in São Paulo. Despite the defeat, Botafogo SP showed a fighting spirit, proving they didn’t give up against the powerhouse Palmeiras.
