Palestino Falls to Cruzeiro in Thrilling Sudamericana Match
Coquimbo, Chile – In a vibrant match played at the Estadio Bicentenario Francisco Sánchez Rumoroso, Palestino suffered a 2-3 defeat against Cruzeiro in the third matchday of the 2025 CONMEBOL Sudamericana group stage. The match, refereed by Mathias De Armas from Uruguay, was characterized by open play with chances for both teams.
Palestino took the lead in the 40th minute thanks to a goal by J. Benítez. However, Cruzeiro fought back in the second half. Eduardo scored the equalizer in the 83rd minute, assisted by Wanderson. J. Arias equalized again for Palestino in the 86th minute, but a late Cruzeiro goal secured the victory for the Brazilian team.
Despite the loss, Palestino showed determination and created danger in the opponent’s area with 13 shots, 6 of them on target. Cruzeiro, on the other hand, dominated possession (61%) and also had a high number of shots (15). Both teams finished the match with yellow cards; one for Palestino and none for Cruzeiro. The visitors’ superior possession and clinical finishing proved decisive.
