Omonia Nicosia Stages Comeback to Defeat Rapid Vienna in Thrilling Encounter
Nicosia, December 12, 2024 – The GSP Stadium in Nicosia witnessed a vibrant match in the fifth matchday of the UEFA Europa Conference League group stage. Omonia Nicosia staged a spectacular comeback against Rapid Vienna, winning 3-2 in a match filled with excitement until the final whistle.
Rapid Vienna dominated possession (62%), generating 19 shots (4 on target), but was surprised by Omonia’s effectiveness. Kakoullis opened the scoring for the home side in the 52nd minute, assisted by Charalampous. Beljo equalized for Rapid Vienna in the 62nd minute, thanks to an assist from Auer. However, Omonia regained the lead with a goal from Semedo in the 66th minute, assisted by Kakoullis. The Cypriot team sealed the victory with a goal from Alioum in added time.
