Newell’s Old Boys defeats Huracán in a thrilling match
Rosario, April 29, 2025 – Newell’s Old Boys secured a victory against Huracán in a match played at the Estadio Marcelo Alberto Bielsa, corresponding to matchday 15 of the Argentine Professional League. The match, refereed by Facundo Raul Tello Figueroa, ended with a 2-0 scoreline in favor of the home side.
Despite having less possession (33%), Newell’s Old Boys showed greater effectiveness in attack. Víctor Acuña opened the scoring in the 43rd minute, assisted by Gianluca Maroni, while Leonel Lollo sealed the victory with a goal in the 81st minute, assisted by Alexis Martino. The numerical advantage was reflected in the second half, after Lollo’s expulsion in the 90th minute.
Huracán, which dominated possession (67%), created fewer goal-scoring opportunities. Although they had more possession, they were unable to convert any of their four shots on target. The visiting team showed inaccuracy in their finishing.
