Newcastle Crushes Bradford in League Cup with Dominating Offensive Display
Newcastle upon Tyne – Newcastle United demonstrated their superiority with a resounding victory over Bradford City in the third round of the League Cup, in a match held at St. James’ Park. The home side dominated possession with an impressive 78% and bombarded the opponent’s goal with 26 shots, 11 of them on target.
Joelinton opened the scoring in the 17th minute with a goal, followed quickly by W. Osula in the 19th minute, assisted by Bruno Guimaraes. Bradford, who only had 22% possession, were outmatched in every aspect of the game.
In the second half, Joelinton scored again in the 75th minute, again assisted by Bruno Guimaraes, extending Newcastle’s lead. Despite A. Cook’s goal for Bradford in the 79th minute, assisted by T. Leigh (who had received a yellow card in the first half), Newcastle remained unfazed.
W. Osula sealed the victory with his second goal of the match in the 87th minute, assisted by H. Barnes, confirming Newcastle’s absolute dominance. The match, refereed by Thomas Kirk, ended with a scoreline that reflects the difference in level between the two teams. Newcastle advances to the next round of the League Cup after this memorable performance.
