New York Red Bulls Secure Decisive Victory in Thrilling Match at Home
Harrison, New Jersey – In an electrifying match held at Sports Illustrated Stadium, the New York Red Bulls triumphed over the New England Revolution with a convincing scoreline. The game, part of the Major League Soccer regular season (matchday 23), was packed with excitement and shifts in momentum.
The New England Revolution started strong, opening the score at the 5th minute thanks to a goal by L. Campana. However, their joy was short-lived, as Campana’s goal at the 21st minute was disallowed by VAR due to a handball. Adding to the Revolution’s woes, K. Duncan scored an own goal at the 30th minute, giving the Red Bulls the lead.
The second half was a whirlwind of goals. D. Edelman equalized for the Red Bulls at the 56th minute, assisted by R. Donkor. E. M. Choupo-Moting put the home team ahead at the 70th minute, followed by a goal from E. Forsberg at the 72nd minute. Choupo-Moting scored again at the 83rd minute, assisted by R. Donkor, and Forsberg sealed the victory with a penalty at the 88th minute. Campana managed to score for the Revolution at the 90th minute, but it was too late.
The match was marked by an intense midfield battle, reflected in the numerous fouls committed by both teams (17 by the Red Bulls and 12 by the Revolution). The Red Bulls dominated possession with 58%, generating 21 shots, 8 of which were on target. The Revolution, on the other hand, had 42% possession and 13 shots, 6 of them on target. Referee Sergiy Boyko issued a total of six yellow cards, four to the Revolution and two to the Red Bulls.
