Netherlands and Poland Draw in Thrilling Rotterdam Match
Rotterdam, September 4, 2025 – In a match corresponding to the group stage of the European World Cup Qualifiers, the Netherlands and Poland tied in a hard-fought game at Stadion Feijenoord. The territorial dominance was clearly in favor of the home side, who controlled 74% of possession and generated a total of 14 shots, five of which were on target.
The first goal of the match came in the 28th minute, when D. Dumfries, assisted by M. Depay, opened the scoring for the Netherlands. Despite controlling the game, the Dutch team was unable to extend their lead.
Poland, with more limited possession (26%), opted for counter-attacks and defensive solidity. Their effort was rewarded in the 80th minute, when M. Cash equalized with a goal.
Despite the Netherlands’ late pressure, the score remained unchanged, sealing a draw that leaves both teams with options on their way to the World Cup. Italian referee Simone Sozza did not show any cards during the match.
