Gil Vicente Thrashes Nacional in Thrilling Madeira Match
Gil Vicente secured a convincing 3-0 victory over Nacional in a lively match at the Estádio da Madeira in Ilha da Madeira. The game, part of the 30th round of the Portuguese Primeira Liga, was officiated by Vasilica Iancu and was significantly influenced by R. Encarnacao’s red card for Nacional in the 45th minute.
Despite Nacional’s greater possession (64%), Gil Vicente proved more clinical in attack. Francisco Correia opened the scoring in the 16th minute, with Pablo adding another in the 62nd. Correia sealed the victory with a penalty in the 81st minute. Nacional, despite managing 20 shots (6 on target), failed to breach the Gil Vicente defense. Gil Vicente’s superiority was also evident in fouls (11 to 7) and yellow cards (2 to 0). A goal disallowed by VAR in stoppage time for Nacional did not change the final result.
